Ghosting To Domestic Violence, Kemenduk Proud To Reveal Rows Of Causes Of Divorce In Indonesia

Throughout 2024, divorce cases in Indonesia were recorded at 408,347. This figure has decreased from 467 thousand cases in 2023 and 516 thousand cases in 2022 (BPS data).

According to the Minister of Population and Family Development (Mendukbangga), Dr. Wihaji, S.Ag, M.Pd, represented by Deputy KS, Nopian Andusti, SE, MT, wedding preparations are very important to reduce divorce rates in Indonesia because marriage is an important phase in life that requires a lot of readiness, both in terms of physical health, mental, financial, spiritual, and skills in building a harmonious and contemporary household.

This role is not only limited to economic or domestic aspects, but also includes parenting, emotional support, and joint decision-making. The tendency of most husbands only plays a role as breadwinners, but lacks the opportunity to have responsibility for child care participation and share roles in building a balanced harmonious household.

The majority of divorce cases in Indonesia are caused by quarrels and domestic disputes, according to the Director of Youth Resilience Development, Dr. Edi Setiawan, S.Si, M.Si, M.SE.

"This is a fact that we got from the Ministry of Religion, it turns out that the divorce case was caused because most of the quarrels and disputes in the family amounted to 61.7%, indeed there were economic problems of a quarter or 20%," he said.

"There is also one party left behind/in ghosting by 8.4%, there is also a case of domestic violence and this domestic violence is small why, because what was reported was only a few percent but the case was actually much bigger than 1.3%, the last one was getting drunk, it's also dangerous, it means that she doesn't know her husband, her husband is drunk but already married because it used to be known to your partner, because marriage is not a matter of living together but about living together, how do we adapt and adapt to our partner," continued Edi.

The high divorce rate and divorce cases in the household make marriage ready a new trend among teenagers.

Wihaji, represented by Nopian, said that this condition had an impact on increasing awareness of the importance of readiness before marriage. Couples tend to be more selective and consider the financial, emotional, and stable aspects of the relationship before deciding to stay at home.

There are 10 Dimensions of Family Readiness according to the Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN submitted by Edi in his material, namely: 1) Age readiness, in accordance with the ideal age limit of marriage according to the Ministry of Education and Culture/BKKBN is 21 years for women and 25 years for men. 2) Financial Readiness. 3) Emotional readiness. 4) Social Readiness. 5) Moral Readiness. 6) Mental Readiness. 7) Interpersonal Readiness. 8) Physical Readiness. 9) Intellectual Readiness and 10) living skills.

The Ministry of Education and Culture/BKKBN also has an Electronic Application Ready for Marriage and Ready to Get Pregnant (Elsimil) in which there is education on the readiness to get married before marriage and for health screening as well as assistance for brides (catin). The Ministry of Education and Culture is proud to want to ensure that the catin that is married is healthy so that the baby she is born is also healthy.
