Appoint The Supporting Council, Minister Of Culture Expect Stakeholder Support To Advance Museums And Cultural Conservation

JAKARTA - Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Fadli Zon appointed Hasjim Djojohadikusumo as Chair of the Museum and Cultural Heritage Board for a term of 5 years. Decree of the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Number 78/P/2025 concerning the appointment of the chairman of the Board of Persons for Museums and Cultural Conservation was handed over directly by Fadli Zon to Hasjim Djojohadikusumo on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the National Museum of Indonesia.

The appointment of the chairman of the Museum and Cultural Conservation Board is deemed necessary in order to optimize the protection, development, and utilization of museums and cultural heritage as part of the promotion of national culture which requires strategic support and active participation from various stakeholders. This strategic support and active participation need to be accommodated in an independent and professional institution in the form of a Museum and Cultural Conservation Board.

The Minister of Culture at his remarks in front of guests consisting of representatives of council members, officials within the Ministry of Culture, businessmen and also museum lovers and observers in Indonesia, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hasjim Djojohadikusumo for being willing to carry out the mandate.

"We hope that with the presence of the Board of Persons, later the members will be formed by Mr. Hasjim. We hope (later for its members) are businessmen and philanthropic enthusiasts who have a concern for Indonesian culture and civilization," said Minister Fadli.

Minister Fadli explained that later the work of the Ministry of Culture will be greatly helped if the Board of Persons can be carried out properly, especially in accelerating cultural promotion.

"We will also submit (SK Minister of Culture) and invite the Executive Director of Museums and Cultural Conservation, Esti Nurjadin. So in addition to the newly inaugurated Head of the Cultural Museum andgar Budaya, we also create a structure led by Mrs. Esti, so that there is support from professionals in advancing Museums and Cultural Conservation," continued Minister Fadli.

In the future, the Minister of Culture hopes that Indonesia will become a Land of Beribu Museum, but a museum that is not only a stationary artifact exhibition. In addition to showing off spaces, museums are also a cultural space, a space for civilization that lives with various kinds of activities, so that it becomes the pockets (enclaf) of culture.

"Tonight we leave it to Pak Hasyim to become the Chair of the Board of Persons, form a kind of board of trust because our efforts need a public priority partnership. We need the efforts of all stakeholders, not only the government, but also from the private sector, which I think we hope can contribute to the progress of Indonesian culture," concluded the Minister of Culture.

Hasjim Djojohadikusumo in his remarks last night expressed his gratitude for his extraordinary honor for being appointed Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

"I promise and swear with all my might, I will participate in guarding and carrying out my duties as chairman of the Board of Persons," he said.

The chairman of the Board of Trustees will later be under and responsible to the Minister of Culture and has the task of providing strategic directions and recommendations to the Minister of Culture regarding national policies in the field of museums and cultural heritage, facilitating cross-sectoral cooperation in the preservation, development, and utilization of museums and cultural heritage, mobilizing national and international resources to support the preservation of museums and cultural cagAR, and compiling and reporting annual performance and submitting it to the Minister of Culture.
