Getting To Know Ghost Lashes, A Trend Of Eyelash Trends Among Gen Z

JAKARTA - The trend of beauty is growing day by day. Recently, there is a ghostlashes trend without mascara, which is popular among generation Z or gen Z.

Quoting from Real Simple, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, this trend emphasizes the natural appearance by allowing mascara hair without mascara, creating a minimalist and fresh facial impression.

Ghostlashes are natural eyelashes, with a touch of small product or even a major transformation.

Called 'ghost' because the effect is almost invisible, very different from the thick and heavy eyelash styles that have often been used over the past few years.

Instead of highlighting eyelashes with thick mascara, this trend focuses more on other facial makeup, such as the use of bold lipstick or pastel eyeshadow for performance balance.

According to Manuel Espinoza, a makeup artist as well as a Black Radiance brand ambassador, ghostlashes is similar to the no makeup makeup trend.

Natural eyelashes are highly highlighted in a unique way.

"Ghostlashes really highlightes your natural eyelashes in a nearly undetected way," said Manuel Espinoza.

The trend of ghostlashes has also been increasingly used on the runway stage.

One of them at the Fall/Winter 2024 Dior performance, artist Peter Philips' makeup presents full eyelash makeup without wearing a mascara.

Peter only uses dark eyeshadow which is applied with flat brush to the roots of the eyelash.

This makeup makes the face look more structured even though the makeup products used are very minimalist.

"The results are like not wearing makeup, but still look full and structured," explained Peter Philips.

Thus, it is clear that the special thing about ghostlashes lies in its freshness. This trend proves that one does not need an overlaying of products to look attractive.
