Nominated For Best Supporting Actress, Youn Yuh Jung Flies To Los Angeles To Attend Oscars

JAKARTA - Actress Youn Yuh Jung was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at this year's Academy Awards.

Oscar producers announced some rules last month in which the Oscars ceremony would not be held virtually. They ensure the event continues to run smoothly directly by health protocols.

For the nominees who want to come to the event, they have to go to Los Angeles. Therefore, Youn Yuh Jung who accepted the invitation had departed for Los Angeles by plane on April 13.

"Please understand she went quietly to minimize COVID-19 because Youn Yuh Jung chose to attend the Academy Awards after much consideration", said agency source Youn Yuh Jung, Hook Entertainment quoted from JoongAng Ilbo today, April 14.

Minari's film starring Youn Yuh Jung received six nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress.

Youn Yuh Jung became the first Korean to be nominated in the acting category. She competed with Maria Bakalova of Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Glenn Close of Hillbilly Elegy, Olivia Colman of The Father, and Amanda Seyfried of Mank.

Meanwhile, the 93rd Academy Awards will be held on April 25 in Los Angeles.
