South Korean Filmmakers Support President Yoon's Impeachment, Parasite Film Director To Son Ye Jin Involved

JAKARTA - A number of South Korean filmmakers provide support and participate in the signatories calling for President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment. Some of them are film directors Parasite, Bong Joon Ho, actress Son Ye Jin, Kim Go Eun, Kang Dong Won, and others.

Launching from The Korea Herald, Sunday, October 8, 2024, 77 Korean film industry organizations with 2,518 members criticized Yoon Suk Yeol's emergency declaration against opposition parties. They called the declaration an unlawful act and could not be understood.

The report on December 4 stated that Yoon Suk Yeol's motive for making the declaration with the aim of intimidating opposition parties could not be understood, reads a statement by Korean filmmakers.

"This is a scenario that even opposes the most imaginative film plot," he added.

Meanwhile, the petition for signing President Yoon Suk Yeol's impeachment by South Korean filmmakers has started since Thursday afternoon, December 5, 2024. Apart from actors and actresses, other directors also signed the petition, such as Jeong Ji Young, Byun Young Joo, Yang Ik June, to Lim Sun Ae.
