JAKARTA The number of Indonesian film viewers continues to increase rapidly, with the achievement of 75 million viewers until early December 2024. Responding to this need, Sam's Studios, a cinema network made by the nation's children, is now officially present in 17 cities and districts in Indonesia.
This cinema was founded by Sonu Samtani, an Indonesian film producer, who is committed to providing space for local films, especially in areas that have not been reached by large cinema chains.
"Sam's Studios will only play Indonesian films. Especially Saturday and Sunday, we focus on playing children's films," said Sonu Samtani in her remarks at the inauguration of Sam's Studios in Cibadak, Sukabumi, West Java, last Thursday.
Sam's Studios is now present simultaneously in 17 cities and regencies, including Cibadak Sukabumi, Garut, Pemalang, Solo, Kediri, to Probolinggo.
"We want to present quality entertainment to small and medium-sized cities in Indonesia. The presence of this cinema is also a form of real support for the national film industry," continued Sonu.
The Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, Giring Ganesha, has provided his support for the construction of cinemas in the regions.
"The government strongly supports efforts like what Sam's Studios did. If there are licensing problems, report them to us, and we are ready to help," said Giring.
Meanwhile, the Presidential Special Envoy for the Development of the Young Generation and the Art Workers of Raffi Ahmad, was also present at the inauguration in Cibadak. He said the existence of this cinema could have a positive impact on the region.
"This cinema will be a new epicenter for economic development in the regions. With cinemas and culinary areas, the surrounding community will get new jobs," said Raffi Ahmad after signing the inauguration inscription.
He added that the construction of cinemas in the regions is also in line with President Prabowo Subianto's directives to support the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
"This cinema opens up new economic opportunities and helps advance local MSMEs," he concluded.
