Things Parents Need To Pay Attention To So That Nefrotic Syndrome Doesn't Relapse

Fitri said the symptoms of swelling that often occur in children when coughing and colds must also be watched out for as a symptom of the recovery of nephrotic syndrome. Other infections such as urinary tract infection are also a factor in the nephrotic condition that can be relaxed.

Fitri also suggested that nefrotic syndrome does not easily recur, namely by ensuring that there are no holes in the teeth because it can be a source of infection for children. "Then the administration of worm medicine every 6 months is also recommended that children be given according to schedule, then for those who usually have respiratory tract infections, make sure there are no problems with their ears, especially if there are symptoms of collaborating ears. It is hoped that it will be controlled," Fitri said.

Fitri also said parents need to pay attention to the intake of good nutrition and balanced nutrition for their children so that there is no development of diseases due to malnutrition. And it is necessary to monitor weight so that obesity does not occur so that infections are not often transmitted.

For children who have had nephrotic syndrome, taking medication regularly for four weeks is also a necessity to prevent syndrome from recurrence.

On average, children will experience one relaxation or one relapse, as many as 90 percent of patients will respond with the steroid treatment given and only 10 percent will not respond, so they need additional medication such as drugs to prevent kidney leakage.

What makes nephrotic syndrome dangerous, said Fitri, when parents see their child recovering with drugs such as steroids but buying his own additional medicine without the supervision of a doctor, makes the child's kidney condition worse.

"We do not evaluate the results of the recurrence, so sometimes the condition of the kidneys getting worse, it is not known that eventually patients come by not urinating, the hypertension is heavy, the whole body swelling, when examined the condition of the kidneys decreases, that can lead to danger," said Fitri.
