Viral Ormas Raids Padang Restaurant Allegedly For Selling Not Minang People

\JAKARTA - Viral on social media community organizations (ormas) conducted a raid on a Padang restaurant. The raid was allegedly carried out because the owner of the Padang restaurant was not a native of Minang.

Reporting from various sources, the raid was carried out by the Padang Cirebon Restaurant Association (PRMPC). The raid was carried out on the Minang Star Restaurant on Jalan Pabuaran Kidul, Cirebon Regency, on October 3, 2024.

In the video uploaded to the Instagram account @tante.rempong.official, several raids were carried out. One of them seemed to release the writing of Padang dishes attached to the restaurant storefront.

The upload immediately stole the attention of netizens. Many regretted the raid and gave satire to the mass organization.

"Eh, the mass organizations that sell pizza are not Italians, and those who sell kebabs are not Turks. The behavior of mass organizations is very disgraceful," commented netizens.

"Those who sell doubling cat rice are raided, those who sell it are not cats," said another.

"Confused, there's nothing to do with mass organizations," added another.

However, after the raid video went viral, PRMPC provided clarification on the account X @RioRichoco. The chairman of the organization, Eriyanto said that what they were doing was controlling because the owner of the Padang restaurant from Yogyakarta offered a cheaper food price.

Eriyanto said the presence of a Padang restaurant owned by other tribes at low rates would kill their original Minang business and have been around for a long time. He emphasized that the raids or control were carried out for the common good.

"This business is managed by people from Jogja at a price of Rp. 8,000 and Rp. 9,000. If we don't unite in the culinary delights of Padang, what can we get for our brothers and sisters here? Our goal in Cirebon City is for the common good," said Eriyanto, quoted Tuesday, October 29, 2024.

"There may be pros and cons, that's normal. Once again, I as a management of each restaurant in Cirebon said that this goal is for the common good," he concluded.
