Trust In Media Doubtful, Study Calls Journalism The Most Regretted Department

JAKARTA - Journalism is the most regrettable lecturer. This was revealed through a case study and survey conducted by ZipRecruiter.

Citing the website of The Federalist, Monday, October 28, 2024, journalism is at the highest ranking majoring in the most regrettable high school. About 87 percent of students majoring in journalism regret the choice of the department.

This happened because the majority of Americans now think that media companies are dishonest and the belief in published news is doubtful. A Gallup study says that in 1976, 72 percent of Americans still trust the media.

However, the figure of American confidence in the media decreased to only 34 percent in 2022. This is because in reporting events, many media now use artificial intelligence or AI, rather than humans.

News published using AI is considered very bad by the public. One of the media, namely Gannet's Columbus Dispatch, was teased for writing very bad sports stories, which turned out to be written by AI.

For this reason, students to scholars from the journalism department regret having taken the major. Moreover, the costs incurred during college are not small.

They spend a lot of money or even take large loans for college in order to get valuable skills that can be used to work. However, now the world of journalism is not so trusted and uses AI, so that journalism graduates have difficulty getting jobs that regret having majored in it.
