JAKARTA - The younger generation seems to need to master a number of soft skills when moving into the world of work. This soft skill can be interpreted as a non-technical skill in order to have more value in the eyes of the company.
Based on a report by "Future Skills Index of Indonesian Talents" by Mekari, Skilvul, Int Labs, facilitated by Ravenry as a market research partner, three soft skills were found, namely communication, creativity and innovation, then critical thinking and problem solving.
"Indonesia aims to become a big player in the global economy, and talented workers are the driving force towards this," Mekari Talenta Head of Business said.
"Workers must have not only technical skills, but also soft skills that allow them to adapt and innovate in industries that change rapidly. Companies play a key role by providing environment and resources to support the development of worker skills," he added.

In the "Future Skills Index of Indonesian Talents" report, it was found that there were differences in perceptions regarding the levelsoft skills needed by workers to collaborate in the workplace.
Research surveying companies and workers distinguishes soft-skills into 23 categories. Based on the results collected, workers considered that their soft skill level was sufficient, but the company saw that there was still room for development.
The research surveyed workers from extensive demographics, ranging from office workers to factories, from Gen X (44-69 years old) to Gen Z (20-27 years old).
Skilvul's Chief of Business, William Hendradjaja continued the research, reducing soft skills to six groups, namely adaptability and flexibility, communication, creativity and innovation, critical thinking and problem solving, leadership, and self-management.
"After reviewing further data, we found that thousands of workers and companies prioritize communication, creativity, and critical thinking because they think that the three skills are the ones that most affect the ability of workers to carry out their duties as individuals and collaborate with various teams in the office," William said.
