With so many cases of sexual abuse in children, parents play an important role in educating children regarding this matter.

The first way parents have to do is to introduce body parts to their children from an early age. This is done so that children can understand the meaning and function of the body, including reproductive organs with simplified words.

By teaching children parts of the body, it will make them speak clearly if something inappropriate happens. Children also need to be given an explanation that private body parts should not be touched by others carelessly and photographed.

Harassment can occur anywhere, anytime, even within the family sphere. Thus, parents must teach their children to refuse or say no to any unwanted invitations or activities.

For example, teach children to refuse if they are uncomfortable when being interrogated or touched by adults, even from their own families. Also teach children to refuse if asked to touch other people's private areas.

Parents must instill shame in their children from an early age, as a way to prevent sexual harassment. This is done so that children do not change clothes or appear shirtless in the open and in front of others.

As children get older, you can teach them passwords that can be used when they feel insecure. These passwords can be used at home, when guests are at home or when they are out of the house and dealing with other people.

In addition, you also need to invite your child to chat and be open to what they experience when they are not under parental monitoring.
