JAKARTA - Arda Naff and Tantri Kotak are musicians who are active in career with their own band. However, beside that, they are a couple and a family who faithfully support each other.
That solidarity is felt when VOI meet them and their daughter, Karanada. The 7 years old first daughter gather the courage to release a single entitled "Main Sama Aku" on last March.
“When we see her growth, Kara herself indeed has in tune basic voice. That's what I notice,” Tantri said regarding Kara's new project.
The single Main Sama Aku is a children's song sung by Kara and composed by her parents. This song tells the story of a child's wish for parents to stop playing with gadgets for a moment and play with the child.
At an age that has not yet reached double digits, Kara is brave enough to undergo the process like a singer or mother. Arda explained that their decision to make Kara sing was based on the child's interest in singing.
“If you jump, you have to give yourself a parachute first. The parachute was that she saw her parents' readiness and it turned out that they were working hard, leaving the house, backstage, asked by people for photos and she was learning by doing. That's what we're planting, but it's still too early in the career," Arda explained.
"The important thing is that she is happy first because we don't want her to feel like she is being forced. She had to be happy and it looked like she wanted to sing on stage, when she was invited by Buna (Kara's nickname for Tantri) suddenly sang in front of the former President, and she just went up," she continued.
Kara, who was also present on that occasion, also confirmed that her first single started from her habit of seeing people around her often playing with cellphones.
"About my friends playing with their cell phones, Panda (Kara's nickname for Arda) and Buna, I then asked Panda, Mom and friends, don't play with cell phones all the time. Because my friends like playing on their cellphones," Kara said honestly.
Arda, who has been working on songs for adults, was challenged to create children's songs. She feels that there are several things that must be considered when creating children's songs so that they still sound easy but the lyrics can be felt by children.
"The difficulty for me in making children's songs is actually difficult because one has to sing along, the second has to relate to them. That kid can't be lied to. Songs are good, not good, whether they sing or not, small children, number one is small children. So the best music directors are children," explained Arda.
"When we heard that, it seemed like everyone would agree that if we hold a cell phone, it feels like it works 24 hours until the door knocks at home. She protested when she was playing with me, how come she was playing on her cellphone even though she was working. Immediately got the lyrics, straight away. Daddy and Mummy put down the cell phone first, come play with me, that hasn't been changed," he said again.
"When we heard her voice, it was a slap in the face for us as parents. Wow, it turns out we are not perfect parents. It's true that there are no ideal parents, they make each other's mistakes and improve each other," said Arda.
Maximum Support for Child's Artwork
Arda and Tantri not only did the work themselves, but were assisted by Lutfi Firmansyah who helped Kotak. As a result, Main Sama Aku is a catchy children's song with an intriguing message that can be felt by all groups.
“We maximize existing technology, so even though it is simple, the important thing is the results. The result may be that for some people, why does it have to be like this, whether it's enough for us or not. She sings this song appropriately for a child's age," said Tantri Syalindri.
"After that photoshoot, we also asked Putra Johan, the Next Top Model model photographer, to photoshoot Kara, so we were really blessed with friends who wanted to help. To make video clips and stuffs, we finally asked for help from friends we know, and thank God they supported us," she said.
Kara feels happy to have her own song. She does not deny that she wants to become a singer, following the path of Tantri who is active as a vocalist for the band Kotak.
“Very happy. Because I've always wanted to be a singer. Because seeing Panda, Mother seems so exciting. I just want to be an artist," said Kara.
For Arda and Tantri, they try to be parents who are always there for their children. Their busy lives as musicians often move from one stage to another, making them have to sacrifice each other.
"We are committed together to this and that, in our duty of care, not father and mother, not one of them, but both. So we back up each other. If we have a schedule, we want to be together like that. But for me personally, Tantri is more dominant, an extraordinary mother," said Arda.
"The presence of their parents is something that strengthens them, women can be an example of patience for children, men can be leaders, so they can be mutual," added Tantri.
"If we can arrange it together, for example, I'm performing, she's doing activities in Jakarta and vice versa, so we can complement each other in everyday life when there are other activities, so as far as possible we have backup," she continued.
Approaching their 20th wedding anniversary, Arda and Tantri are committed to teaching religion, character and independence. They want their children, Kara and Arka, to develop into happy children.
"Hopefully Kara's song Main Sama Aku is liked and is useful, especially as the song can make children happy. Yesterday I was really happy that the Instagram reels were trending for a while, even though they weren't trending number one, the prizes weren't numbers, but children singing the song on social media," said Arda.
The song Main Sama Aku from Karanada can be listened digitally.
