JAKARTA - A social action to stop Bullying by distributing peace values among students initiated by the Teacher Community of the Sharing Satkara (KGSB) in collaboration with the BK Teacher's House (RGBK) and the Indonesia Student and Youth Forum (ISYF) through the #AyoBalasBabik movement, Stop Bullying.

KGSB founder Ruth Andriani highlighted the increasing number of bullying or increasingly worrying bullying cases. Since the last few months, there have been so many cases of bullying that have occurred both in the school environment and in Islamic boarding schools, which makes us all concerned, it can be said that Indonesia is in an 'emergency' era for cases of violence and bullying in the Education Unit.

This emergency condition is the main point of attention of KGSB until it is moved to carry out prevention and handling of bullying programs by involving the active role of school residents. This issue has become the main concern since KGSB was founded 2 years ago by cooperating with Psychologists and legal practitioners to continue to provide counseling and education to educators, parents and students.

Research shows that bullying can increase the risk of mental disorders, depression, ansietas, and even self-destructive and suicide behavior in victims. Citing data compiled by the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI), as of February 2023 showed an alarming increase in the number of cases of bullying. A total of 1,138 cases of bullying were recorded, from cases of physical to psychological violence.

In an effort to take effective preventive measures and provide an in-depth understanding to students about the importance of preventing, tackling bullying, to promoting a movement, KGSB, RGBK and ISYF initiated the #BalasBaik Islamic Boarding School program in the Ashokal Hajar Boross School, Bogor.

"By actively involving participants in learning, training, and planning follow-up actions, we believe that this pesantren can be the first step in creating a safe, inclusive, and free learning environment from bullying in schools throughout Indonesia," Ruth explained again.

BK Teacher's Home Founder (RGBK), Ana Susanti said that various activities were specially designed to foster students' interest in understanding the impact and combat bullying.

"The #AyoBalasBaik Movement, Stop Bullying, we introduce students through Active Learning activities that involve the active role of participants to understand further the categories and impacts of bullying. We direct all participants to make affirmations of the steps they will take to break the chain of bullying in their school environment", said Ana.

The participant students received education about the importance of preventing and tackling bullying in the educational environment. They were also given training with a focus on introducing signs of bullying, how to overcome them, and an important role in preventing them.

Executive Director of the Indonesia Student & Youth Forum (ISYF), Rizky Nugraha Putra A added that this pesantren is a collaborative effort to overcome the problem of bullying among high school students with a holistic and sustainable approach. There were 50 students selected as agents of change who were given education and training for social action to break the bullying chain through the movement to repay with the kindness of #ayorepaybaik.

"The educational moment is carried out through a series of activities consisting of studies from religious perspectives, and coaching agents #AyoBalasBaik. In addition, they are also equipped with understanding and social and emotional skills to deal with bullying situations wisely and effectively," said Rizky.

The material for understanding the issue of bullying from a religious perspective is given by Irfan Amali Kyai Peace and Co-fouder Peace Generation. This briefing is expected to strengthen moral and ethical values among participants.

In addition to education, #BalasBaik Anti Bullying agents are also encouraged to design and implement concrete and measurable follow-up plans in their respective schools to combat bullying. They also receive support to strengthen solidarity and social awareness through poor compensation activities and other social movements, as a tangible manifestation of the spirit of togetherness and empathy.

Serangkai with education for #BalasBaik Anti Bullying agents, KGSB and ISYF also held webinars for teachers at the school. The webinar, which carries the theme Prevention and Handling of Bullying in School Environments, presents speakers from Unita Werdi Rahajeng, Psychologists and lecturers from the Universitas Brawijaya Psychology Department.

In his presentation, Unita revealed 4 prevention and handling strategies for bullying. Namely stop at that time, investigate the incident, provide support and follow-up.

Apart from that, the Unita psychologist did not recommend any mediation between the perpetrator and the victim and witnesses, either the aim of investigating the details of the incident or reconciling the two. The second thing he does not recommend is to punish the perpetrators in public (group treatment) like during the ceremony. In addition, he did not expect the handling to only be given at the time of the incident without any follow-up.

More than that, Unita suggested that each school be formed by a TPPK team (the Violence Prevention and Handling Team) consisting of a team of educators/education personnel and representatives of parents/committees. This team has the task of creating systems/programs and suggestions for the prevention of violence. In addition, they are also involved in preventing and handling bullying cases that occur and coordinating with various related parties.
