JAKARTA - Thursday, February 18th, the production house New Line Cinema released the first trailer for the film Mortal Kombat, the latest adaptation of the game franchise.
Directed by Simon McQuoid, this new Mortal Kombat focuses on MMA player Cole Young (Lewis Tan) who realizes the dragon emblem on his chest is not a birthmark.
This was realized after the emperor Shang Tsung of Outworld sent Sub-Zero (Joe Taslim) to chase him. In between the chases, Cole Young looks for Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee) under the direction of Jax Briggs (Mehcad Brooks).
One time, they stop at the temple of Lord Raiden (Tadanobu Asano) where Cole Young is training to be a winner against Outworld.
Apart from those mentioned, Mortal Kombat is also played by Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Chin Han, Hiroyuki Sanada, Max Huang, and Sisi Stringer.
This two-minute trailer features Cole Young solving the identity and secret behind the dragon sign. As the trailer ends, Joe Taslim appears as Sub-Zero and gets into action.
After being postponed, Warner Bros. will release Mortal Kombat starting April 16 on theaters and streaming service HBO Max available in the United States.
