Rex Brown Confirms That Zakk Wylde Will Not Fill In Darrell's Position On The Pantera Tribute Tour

JAKARTA - Rex Brown responded to the idea of a Pantera tribute tour in the past, which would ideally bring him together with Philip Anselmo to celebrate the legacy of the legendary metal band. However, he turned down the idea of a tour featuring Zakk Wylde as a replacement for Dimebag Darrell.

"It will be a sold-out stadium show," Brown told Eon Music of the tour plans.

"Offers are still coming for Philip and me to do it if we want, but if you don't have anyone else in the band it won't sound the same. If we do something like that, it will happen, or I won't. It will be. appreciation."

Wylde was close friends with Darrell, and he remained in touch with the guitarist's girlfriend, Rita Haney after Darrell's death.

In early 2020, Haney voiced his support for the Pantera tribute tour that would see Wylde join Brown and Anselmo. However, Brown believes that is not the lineup they want.

"(The tribute tour) will happen, and not Zakk Wylde, I guarantee it," said the bassist.

Brown and Anselmo will also have to recruit a drummer to replace the late Vinnie Paul if they go on a tribute tour in honor of Pantera. Who is it?

Stone Sour drummer Roy Mayorga replaced Paul on tour with Hellyeah in 2019. But for Pantera, Mayorga is not necessarily the right choice.
