JAKARTA - Former President of the United States, Donald Trump opted out of the US actor and television and radio union, SAG-AFTRA on Thursday, February 4.
Launching Fox News on Friday, February 5, an open letter was given by Trump to SAG-AFTRA President, Gabrielle Carteris. Through the letter, Trump did not want his name to be linked to SAG-AFTRA activities.
"I'm writing to you in connection with a Disciplinary Committee meeting to revoke my membership," Trump said in the letter.
Then Trump wrote several films and series starring such as Home Alone 2, Zoolander, Saturday Night Live, The Apprentice, and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. He considered Carteris not having a work in the entertainment world like what Trump did.
"I was also instrumental in helping the television business (which was dying before I got into politics) and created thousands of jobs on channels such as MSDNC, Fake News CNN, and others."
According to Trump, this union does nothing for him so there is no point in joining SAG-AFTRA. Closing his letter, Trump said, "You didn't do anything for me."
This letter was given after the SAG-AFTRA leadership board held a vote which resulted that Trump's stance in favor of the demonstrations at the parliament building some time ago was inconsistent with union principles.
