Mariah Carey Sued Biological Sibling For Controversial Story In Memoirs

JAKARTA - Singer Mariah Carey was sued by her older sibling, Alison A. Carey, in a New York court on Monday, February 1.

Emotional pressure over public bullying is the reason Alison sues her younger brother. The trigger is the part of the story that Mariah wrote in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

In the book, Mariah tells of her childhood life when she was first confronted with her parents' divorce. Not only that, this Hero chanter revealed his experience when he was acquainted with a dark world like medicine due to Alison's influence.

At the age of 12 years Mariah, her brother gave Mariah cocaine, poured hot water, even with the heart to leave Mariah to live alone and choose to be with a man. "Older sisters are supposed to look after you, not sell you," Mariah said in her memoir.

Alison considers Mariah to use her status as a public figure to attack her by revealing her childhood story. It is known, Mariah never asked Alison's approval to share her story in public.

On the other hand, Alison denied all the stories written in the memoirs but she admitted that Carey's family life was not very pleasant. Alison also sued Mariah with a nominal value of 1.25 million US dollars.

Mariah Carey did not respond to the lawsuit filed by her siblings. Meanwhile, the book The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which was released in 2020, was a success and was ranked first in the New York Times best-selling non-fiction book as of October 2020.
