JAKARTA - Miss Universe Indonesia (MUID) tried to clarify various rumors circulating over the implementation of MUID 2023 on August 3. As is well known, rumors emerged that MUID was paid to determine the winner this year.
Not only that, there are several finalists who claim to undergo unusual procedures and state allegations of sexual harassment. For this reason, a finalist even reported PT Capella Swastika Karya as the license holder of MUID to Polda Metro Jaya.
On rumors of getting some money to determine the winner, MUID through its Instagram page denied the allegations. They stated that the allegations were baseless.
"We are very concerned about the accusations that recently circulated that the Miss Universe Indonesia Organization received some money from the winner of the Miss Universe Indonesia contest. We want to state firmly that this claim is baseless and false," MUID wrote in a clarification uploaded to its official Instagram account, seen Tuesday, August 8.
Our organization prides itself in upholding the highest standards of justice, transparency and professionalism in every aspect of our operations. Each contestant is judged based on its achievements, skills, and attributes, and there are no other financial or external considerations that play a role in our selection process," he continued.
MUID stated that it upholds freedom of expression for all people. However, on the other hand they also stated that they would take every accusation seriously.
We respect freedom of speech and right to opinion. However, spreading baseless accusations and damaging our organization is not only irresponsible but also has the potential to defame. We urge those who spread or support this baseless claim to be stopped immediately," he said.
"Know that we take every attack against our integrity seriously, and if these false accusations continue to circulate or damage our reputation, we will not hesitate to take legal action and be firm against the party responsible," he added.
However, MUID has not at all responded to allegations of alleged sexual harassment against finalists, as has been reported to the police.
Netizens were also busy asking MUID, especially for Poppy Capella as the National Director and Owner of the Miss Universe Indonesia Organization to talk about the alleged sexual harassment.
"It has been reported to Polda Metro Jaya. Just clarify you in court," wrote one netizen.
"You don't have to make it like this all the time. Where's Mrs. Poppy's face? Where's the form of responsibility?" said another netizen.
"It's been reported to the Regional Police, just continue at the trial, wkwkwk, it's embarrassing," wrote the account @ramazanitdhava.
Until now, Poppy Capella has not responded to the alleged sexual harassment experienced by finalists Miss Universe Indonesia 2023.
