Filming In Tanah Laut, Marcel Chandrawinata Visits Many Tourist Locations

JAKARTA - Marcel Chandrawinata participated in starring in the film TALA: When Love Calls From The Bottom of Borneo, directed by Joko Nugroho. This film was made to introduce tourist and cultural sites in Tanah Laut Regency, South Kalimantan.

The 36-year-old actor admitted that he only found out about Tanah Laut Regency after receiving an offer from Joko Nugroho. He also began studying the southernmost district on the island of Kalimantan.

"The first time I knew that Tanah Laut was when I saw the title of the film that Mas Joko gave, and I just found out that it was in South Kalimantan," said Marcel Chandrawinata when met in Palmerah, West Jakarta last week.

My knowledge of the Land of the Sea began when I received an offer to play in this film. I've previously been to Banjarmasin, but I don't know the Land of the Sea yet," he continued.

Marcel Chandrawinata admitted that he was surprised by the many tourist sites in Tanah Laut. As a travel enthusiast, he feels he has never known that Kalimantan has many beautiful natural tourist sites.

"I like traveling, yes, it's a family that we like traveling, for the first time I'm going there. Because what I knew before was that Kalimantan was just coal, hot, but it turned out that they have a beautiful beach, we also have shooting in the waterfall. Even though there is no signal, that's what I need, where we can escape gadgets and be able to enjoy nature, "said Marcel Chandrawinata.

Nadine Chandrawinata's sister was also satisfied while filming in Tanah Laut. He can visit many tourist sites because of his close locations.

The one who surprised us, for all the trips, because everyone was close so it didn't take long. Our shelter is in the middle and there is no shooting location far away. So there are no difficulties at all," he said.

Furthermore, Marcel said that what is shown in TALA: When Love Calls From The Bottom of Borneo is not like most films. He mentions all the natural beauty that is displayed according to what is there.

"Usually the film offers the best so that the view is delicious to see, but what we show here is all 100 percent original, nothing has been changed. So everything is as original as what nature has offered us," said Marcel Chandrawinata.

Marcel is also happy with many of his co-stars who are local actors. He felt he learned a lot of new things when communicating with them.

Untungnya sampai sana kita diberikan waktu 10 hari untuk workshop dengan orang-orang di sana. Karena memang 75 persen pemainnya adalah warga lokal Tanah Laut. Jadinya seru karena kita banyak belajar dari mereka, pungkas Marcel Chandrawinata.
