The Story Behind Sarwendah's Meeting With The Viral WayV

JAKARTA - Sarwendah's name was trending on Twitter after WayV came to visit his house. He looks fluent in Mandarin while chatting with the members of the group under SM Entertainment.

Ruben Onsu's wife revealed that she was fluent in Mandarin because she had worked as a translator before marriage.

"Because I happen to be pretty (in Mandarin). I used to be a Mandarin translator. So automatically, it's impossible for me to not be fluent in Mandarin," said Sarwendah to the media crew in Senayan, Central Jakarta on Monday, June 26.

Mandarin is not just his ancestral language, but Sarwendah has received higher education in Taiwan by majoring in Mandarin.

Not only that, his high school period was also spent in Beijing, the Chinese capital. While junior high school he pursued in Malaysia.

Sarwendah is also happy to be able to use her Mandarin skills to talk with WayV members. He felt again when he was studying abroad.

"So, it just so happens that WayV has a member who speaks Mandarin, right, so it's good to talk. And I used to go to school abroad, the term was like that, so I felt like when I was abroad," he said.

Sarwendah also shared her experience while studying in Taiwan. He admitted that he knew many good friends, who introduced him to many things about Chinese culture.

"I'm really happy when I can not only go to tourist attractions that are like overall tourism, but try something food or know traditional goods that really are," said Sarwendah.

"I feel like I used to be very happy when my friends, for example when I went to school in Taiwan, they told me, oh in Taiwan it's actually this traditional food. Well, I'm happy," he continued.

From his experience, Sarwendah also felt the need to do the same when hosting WayV at home. He also recommended several Indonesian specialties to the members.

"So, I feel like when they come, I tell you what traditional foods in Indonesia are, what traditional goods are actually in Indonesia. Maybe they will also like it," concluded Sarwendah.
