JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) sent a total of 107 tons of drugs and medical supplies to Saudi Arabia to fulfill health services for pilgrims from Indonesia. The Director General of Pharmacy and Medical Devices of the Ministry of Health Rizka Andalusia ensured that the need for drugs was guaranteed until pilgrims returned to Indonesia.

"Currently we have been trying to provide medicine for Indonesian pilgrims in 2023. In supporting Hajj health services, we provide medicine and medical supplies since departure from the country until arriving in the Holy Land," Rizka said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, May 27.

He explained that as many as 107 tons of drugs and medical supplies include respiratory tract drugs, digestive tract drugs, antidiabetic drugs, analgesic drugs and anti-inflammatory drugs, cardiovascular drugs, multivitamins, electrolyte solutions and milk.

In addition, there are 206,400 packages of congregational equipment as a health support during the worship given to each prospective hajj participant in the embarkation.

In addition to the congregation's package, 524 packages of medicine and medical supplies were also prepared which would be brought by the batch of medical officers who accompanied the congregation during the pilgrimage.

To maintain the health of pilgrims during quarantine in Hajj dormitories, medicines and medical supplies have also been provided at 19 Port Health Offices (KKP) which are used as embarcations.

Starting in 2023, the recording, reporting on the use and distribution of drugs in the context of health services for prospective hajj candidates will be carried out electronically using an application called Sobathaji.

He added that the application is expected to help better manage Hajj logistics.

"We hope that the availability of medicines and supplies of medical devices that have been held can help reduce morbidity in prospective hajj participants, so that this year's Hajj can run smoothly," said Rizka Andalusia.
