JAKARTA - Kim Woo Bin is happy to be back acting with various stories. He was asked to be the main character in the latest Netflix series, Black Knight.

Kim Woo Bin plays 5-8, one of the sending packages that work to deliver water and food through air pollution that is increasingly threatening the world. Black Knight tells the world in 2071 where people fight for their lives.

"We just wore masks because of the pandemic, so when I read the script, I imagine this future could happen," Kim Woo Bin said at a Black Knight press conference today, Wednesday, May 10.

The most important factor when choosing this project was director Cho Ui Seok. We worked together in the Master film seven years ago and because I enjoyed filming it, I think I can collaborate with him once again," he said.

Kim Woo Bin tries to imagine what happens to the world when people are treated unfairly. He also feels the difference in bringing the character to life using a ventilator.

I emphasize 5-8 thinking when playing characters. My character is strong and he is a legend. He (5-8) dreamed of a world where everyone was treated equally so I reminded myself why he did something like that," explained Kim Woo Bin.

"I thought the way I breathed and my energy could be different when I wore a ventilator or not, so I made sure I added that difference when I played the character," he continued.

As the main character, Kim Woo Bin imagines this condition happening in the real world. He was also impressed by the background of the story and the technology they used for this series.

I keep trying to think of those who are isolated and hurt. I believe everyone deserves to be loved, that's why I am very happy to play 5-8. The more I imagine, the easier it will be for me to imagine," he continued.

When I imagined the building around the Hannam bridge was destroyed, I felt restless. I thought 5-8 would feel the same way when they saw it all, "said Kim Woo Bin.

Black Knight is adapted from a webtoon about the legendary 5.8 courier played by Kim Woo Bin and a refugee named Sa Wol (Esom). The couriers who deliver goods to survive in 2071. They live in the middle of a dystopia where they are full of pollution and survive by spending deeper.

All six episodes of the Black Knight series can be watched via Netflix on May 12.
