JAKARTA - Artist Robert Vargas is currently painting an Eddie Van Halen mural at the Guitar Center in Hollywood, California. The mural is expected to be completed on January 17, and will be inaugurated on January 26.

"I'm going to paint this, 10am to 6pm, Thursday to Sunday, January 17th. You can see me making this epic mural out of your car or you can watch the live stream here, every day at 4pm. I'm going to destroy the entire catalog of moments. I paint! " Vargas said quoted from Blabbermouth, Friday, January 15.

Vargas is a contemporary artist known for his mixed media portraits, murals and live events. Born and raised in the Boyle Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, his most famous works include the assigned mural on the City of LA "Can't Stop" of legendary Suicidal Tendencies vocalist Mike Muir.

He sees his public mural work both in Los Angeles and around the world as a means of reaching a wider audience and promoting accessible art and community through a creative process.

This is not the first mural created in honor of iconic musician Eddie Van Halen. Less than a month after the guitarist's death, airbrush artist Paul Archer painted a mural of this man who still has Indonesian blood on the back wall of the Archer Airbrushing shop in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Eddie passed away in October at the age of 65. His death was announced by Eddie's son and Van Halen's bassist Wolfgang.

Eddie died at Providence Saint John Health Center in Santa Monica, California. After his death, fans left flowers at his childhood home on Las Lunas Street in Pasadena, California. Other flowers as well as candles and fan mementos were placed on Allen Avenue where Eddie and his brother, drummer Alex, etched their band name onto the wet cement of the pavement when they were teenagers.

In October, the City Council meets in Pasadena. They discussed making a memorial to honor Eddie. City manager Steve Mermell was directed to come up with ideas on how best to honor the musician.

Van Halen was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2007. Meanwhile, Eddie Van Halen took 8th place in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest guitarists in the world.
