Tips For Teaching Children To Fast Since Early Childhood In The Style Of Shireen Sungkar

JAKARTA - Shireen Sungkar shares his way of teaching children to fast early on. Without being forced, children must be taught slowly.

"Actually, if you know fasting children, you have to be slow. You can't force them. Because actually it's not mandatory for children. So, as far as I have experience, I make a different routine from other months that makes them miss Ramadan," said Shireen as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, March 20.

"It's more introduced like it's not something that should be. But it's more the same age. It's been told why fasting, tell those who like it. For example, 'Masha Allah, that's really good. We have to be grateful' and so on. So the child is happier. It's not something that looks like 'If you don't fast, you'll get this'. It's brought to be happy," he added.

In order to be able to accompany his children in fasting, Shireen chose not to take a lot of work. Thus, he can take the time to create special moments with his family.

"Towards breaking the fast, I really like making things with the children actually. Because it's like a moment that doesn't happen again when they grow up, and they are very happy from year to year even though their younger siblings haven't started fasting," said Shireen.

"It's a routine moment that I want to build. That's why I always say Ramadan I don't want to be too full. Because the moment of breaking the fast doesn't just disappear," he added.

In addition to building a special moment with children, Shireen also has other ways to introduce fasting to his children. Even though he didn't fast, Shireen said that he would still wake his son up together.

Even though they haven't fasted yet, my sahur still wakes up. So that they are not lazy but fun. That's why they have to be supported by cooking interesting foods too. So make something special, from the atmosphere of the house to the food," he said.
