Matt Sorum About Lars Ulrich, The Musician Who Brought Him To Guns N 'Roses

JAKARTA - Matt Sorum wishes Lars Ulrich a happy 57th birthday. He said the Metallica drummer was "always there as a friend".

The former Guns N 'Roses drummer shared a photo of himself with Ulrich on Instagram on Saturday. He wrote a special message to the Metallica Udrumer.

"Happy birthday to my 31-year-old pal Lars Ulrich. We met when The Cult opened their Justice For All tour and spent many nights on the road together living the rock n 'roll life," Sorum wrote.

"The Cult had almost 6 months on that tour and the adventure was crazy and (the memories) are still with me to this day. That we stayed close because Lars gave Slash my number to get into GN'R. Sorum joined The Cult in 1989 on a promotional tour for their fourth studio album, Sonic Temple. After replacing Steven Adler in Guns N 'Roses, he recorded the hugely successful albums Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II (both 1991) as well as The Spaghetti Incident? (1994).

The drummer also supported Axl Rose's band on the Use Your Illusion tour and appeared on the Guns N 'Roses album Live Era: '87 -'93 (1999) and Greatest Hits (2004).

The Kings Of Chaos founder has said in the past that the Guns N 'Roses reunion tour should have included him and Adler, with each drummer playing a song they recorded with the group. Sorum himself was inducted as a band member into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in April 2012.

Meanwhile, his autobiography, Double Talkin 'Jive: True Rock' N 'Roll Stories From The Drummer Of Guns N' Roses, The Cult, And Velvet Revolver, will arrive in April 2021 after being postponed due to the COVID19 pandemic.
