JAKARTA - Lin Qi, producer of Netflix's newest series, Three-Body Problem, died on December 25 at the age of 39. There is a suspicion that Lin Qi was poisoned by his co-worker at Yoozoo Group.

Quoting Variety on Monday, December 28, Lin Qi was hospitalized since December 16. The Shanghai Public Security Bureau said the poison was given by a colleague surnamed Xu.

The two of them experienced a conflict regarding work, which led to a cut in Xu's salary. Lin Qi is the CEO of the Shanghai-based gaming company.

Xu poisoned Lin Qi with pu-erh tea mixed with poison. Despite finding the person suspected of killing Lin, the police have not been able to reveal what medicine was used to poison Lin Qi. Currently, the police are conducting an investigation into Xu.

On December 16th, Lin checked up at the hospital for experiencing symptoms of an acute illness. However, his condition is still stable. He was immediately taken to the ICU and checked. The next day, Lin's body showed signs of brain death.

Netflix gets the rights to produce an adaptation of the book in English from the Yoozoo Group company and its subsidiary, Three-Body Universe.
