JAKARTA - The band of power metal in the United States, Kamelot, shared a teaser video for their long-awaited new studio album. The one-and-a-half-minute clip includes footage of some of the music from the upcoming album.
Among the song titles that will appear in the full album include Bloodmoon, Eventide, Awakening, Midsumer's Eve, The Great Divide, Opus Of The Night, and Pantheon.
In an interview in 2020 with The Metal Mixtape, guitarist Thomas Youngblood spoke about a songwriting approach for the album.
"Obviously, there is a balance between making the album that fans expect but then doing things that are a little different so you don't repeat it yourself," said the guitarist.
"And we are pretty good at it, I think. The team I have with me is very good at saying, 'Hey, we've done this. Let's do something different.'"
When it comes to music, especially metal, people expect certain things, Youngblood continued. For that, they always try to have this kind of DNA on each album, but also make it different.
"This new album will have the same approach - we have a lot of different new elements or influence, but then there will be things people really expect and they are, like, 'Okay, this is Kamelot'. So this is a bit of a balance. You don't want to overdo it. That's definitely not our goal. We want every recording to be different," Youngblood explained.
More information about the follow-up to The Shadow Theory's album, which was released in 2018, will be revealed on January 12.
