JAKARTA - Mike Portnoy admits to Prog Magazine that the upcoming live Transatlantic release will mark the band's end of the journey.

Released on February 17 via InsideOut Music, The Final Flight: Live At L'Olympia features Neal Morse, Pete Trewavas, Roine Stolt, and Portnoy at the Paris venue on the final night of their Absolute Universe Tour in July 2022.

"It's no secret. We've offended him several times on social media throughout the tour. It really feels like the end of an era. We're all feeling amazing finality, like we're taking this as far as possible, both in the studio and on stage. We can't be happier with this ending," Portnoy explained.

The Final Flight will be released in the Digipak Blu-ray three CD/single format and the giant four LP gatefold package, covering more than three hours of music.

However, Portnoy revealed that although Transatlantic ended their pulse, The Final Flight would not be their last album.

By the end of 2023 they plan to release footage of their performance at Morsefest, in April.

"We performed two nights," said Portnoy. Not only The Absolute Universe as a whole but also The Whirlwind, as well as several other songs that we have never played live, accompanied by strings and choirs and so on. This really has to be owned by the complements."
