JAKARTA - After waiting for the fans of the film and fans of the novel, finally the film Balada Si Roy will be released on January 19, 2023. IDN Pictures has now released its newest official poster and trailer.

Ballad Si Boy is directed by Fajar Nugros and produced by Susanti Dewi. This film stars actors from different generations, including Abidzar Al Ghifari, Febby Rastanty, Bio One, Zulfa Maharani, Sitha Marino, Jourdy Pranata, Omara Esteghlal, Yusuf Mahardika, Lulu Tobing, Dede Yusuf, Marthino Lio, and a number of other actors.

The film Ballad Si Roy itself is based on a legendary novel by Gol A Gong with the same title. Since it was first published, the novel has been enjoyed by Indonesian readers and has sold up to 300,000 copies.

The story of Balada Si Roy has a deep impression on me. I grew up accompanied by Roy with a very interesting character. This motivates me to take this novel into the film and introduce the excitement of the plot and the intrigue in it to the wider community," said director Fajar Nugros in a written release, Friday, December 16.

The figure of Roy who became an idol for young people in his time was a strong reason for the director to lift him to the big screen.

The film Ballad Si Roy itself tells the story of Roy, a new student with a rebel spirit who has to adapt to his new life in a small coastal town called Serang. Different from most men, Roy is liked by a lot of women at his school. But only Ani, a sweet girl who is also being chased by Dullah, the school's ruler, can win her heart.

Roy's feud with Dullah was inevitable. This feud led to the death of Joe, one of Roy's friends. After Joe's death, Roy chose to be friends with Andi and Toni. They are allied against the Dullah camp. But due to a disaster, Andi died and Toni had to move to another city for treatment.

Roy, who returns alone without friends, affects himself to the only person he trusts, Ani. But because of Dullah's actions who exposed the disgrace of Roy's family, Ani's parents also forbade their relationship. But Roy was determined to get up and fight to find answers to all his own questions.

Not only because it is adapted from the best-selling novel, but this film has also been shown at several film festivals both at the pulsed and international levels, including Jakarta Film Week 2022, Balimakarya Film Festival 2022 and Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) 2022. In the 2022 JAFF event, the 2022 film Balada Si Roy even participated in the 2022 Indonesian Screen Awards competition.

In addition to releasing official posters and trailers, Balada Si Boy also released a soundtrack written and sung by Fiersa Besari in collaboration with Eet Sjahranie. The song can now be heard on various digital music platforms.
