Margot Robbie Wants Her Character In Pirates Of The Caribbean To Be Queer

JAKARTA - Margot Robbie wants her character in the new Pirates of the Caribbean film to be LGBT +, according to Hollywood insiders.

Robbie confirmed he starred in the film in June. He promised a lot of female power in the film.

Robbie said she was excited about the prospect of adding a very important female element to the film.

Currently, little is known about the character Robbie will play in the upcoming film. However, many assumed he would take over the main character from Captain Jack Sparrow.

Jerry Bruckheimer, producer of Pirates of the Caribbean said he is unsure if Johnny Depp will return as Captain Jack Sparrow for the next film.

Johnny Depp stepped down from his role in the cinematic series Fantastic Beasts due to a lawsuit against British newspapers calling him a "wife beater". This adds to speculation about his future with the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

"At the moment, we are not really sure what the role of Johnny will be," Bruckheimer said as quoted by the Daily Star, December 15.

Margot Robbie herself is no stranger to playing queer characters. Last year, Robbie received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his performance in Bombshell. Her character, Kayla Pospisil, sleeps with Kate McKinnon's character in the film.

Robbie says the sexuality of the character is "a huge aspect of the story and its emotional journey that remains unresolved." He also speculates that "being with a woman will be the end of the game for Kayla".

Earlier this year, Margot Robbie's character in Birds of Prey, Harley Quinn, emerged as bisexual. Robbie says Quinn's bisexuality is something he wants to explore in the film.
