Netflix Doesn't Want To Label The Crown As Fiction

JAKARTA - Netflix has no plans to warn that The Crown series is a work of fiction. Through its official statement, Netflix said The Crown presented a drama side.

“We have always presented The Crown as a drama, and we are sure that each of our customers understands that (The Crown) is a work of fiction based on a historical story. As a result we do not have a plan - and do not need to - add a warning, "said a Netflix representative quoted from Deadline, Monday, December 7.

Earlier, Culture Minister Oliver Dowden asked Netflix to put a special label on the fourth season of The Crown series. The British government is worried that the public is watching the series as British history.

"The Crown is a beautiful work of fiction, as with any other television production, Netflix should clearly tell you about the series. Without this, I worry that viewers who didn't go through that period think this fictional event is real."

Requests for special labels were also made to declare The Crown a work of fiction and avoid the bad image of the British Royal family. A similar request was mentioned by Princess Diana's younger brother, Charles Spencer.

ABC Australia also asked for a special warning because The Crown made a scene that did not correspond to real events. In the series, former Prime Minister Bob Hawke referred to the Queen as a hog animal even though he never said that.

However, the creator of The Crown, Peter Morgan defended the series through an in-depth research process.
