JAKARTA - The music group Slank will present a concert tour titled Smile Indonesia in five cities to celebrate 39 years of work. This series of tours will start from the city of Palembang on November 6, 2022, then continue on Heroes' Day in Makassar City on November 10. The concert was continued in the cities of Banjarbaru/Banjarmasin November 24 and Surabaya on December 4.
The theme of the Smile Indonesia concert was deliberately chosen because the band, which has worked since 1983, wanted to spread a smile and positive spirit to all Slankers or the nickname of Slank fans.
This Smile Indonesia concert is also considered a show that has national value for cooperating with various collaborators ranging from musicians, MSMEs to academics.
"Our intention is to spread positive energy after we are destroyed by COVID-19, a scary story about 2023, the economy has collapsed. We want to spread positive energy, spread strong magnets so that Indonesia smiles," said drummer Slank, Bimbim during a press conference at the Smile Indonesia concert in Jakarta, Thursday, October 13.
Concerts in Palembang, Banjarbaru, Surabaya and Makassar will be opened by the group band Type-X. As for its peak celebration, Smile Indonesia will feature Pamungkas, Airlanggare, and Endank Soekamti.
The concert tour will end at Prambanan Temple, Yogyakarta and will be the highlight of Slank Concert's Special Hut 39th celebration on December 11.
"These cities represent big cities in Indonesia. Celebrating their birthdays, we want to choose the middle of the island of Java," said Slank bassist Ivanka as quoted by ANTARA.
Smile Indonesia is expected to be able to bring in a total of 50,000 spectators in five cities. Slank only estimates that it has become part of the Slankers, but also the Indonesian people at large in every city.
