Commemorating World Walking Day 2022, Mayor Of Bogor Affirms Pedestrian Friendly City

JAKARTA - Bogor Mayor Bima Arya Sugiarto stated that his regional infrastructure has been ready to support running and walking for several years with the construction of comfortable pedestrians in the city center.

Bima Arya when giving a statement to reporters after participating in the World Walking Day 2022 activity at Sempur Field, Sunday, said that the large number of people participating in the activity proves that the residents like to walk with the support of good infrastructure.

"In terms of infrastructure, Bogor City has an integrated pedestrian path in the city center that connects the North Bogor and Central Bogor areas," Bima said as quoted by Antara.

Not only that, said Bima, there are also many pedestrian streets that have been built to provide access for pedestrians.

Including other sports facilities and infrastructure, the Bogor City Government is currently in the process of building mini stadiums in three sub-districts.

"God willing, this year we will inaugurate three new stadiums, in North Bogor, South Bogor, West Bogor," he said.

Bima Arya Sugiarto who is also the Chairman of the Association of Indonesian City Governments (APEKSI) said that this activity was carried out simultaneously in 24 cities in Indonesia in collaboration with APEKSI and the Indonesian Community Recreational Sports Committee (KORMI).

The cities that participated in the implementation simultaneously were Bogor, Malang, Balikpapan, Batam, Pekalongan, Semarang, Sungai Penuh, Padang, Cilegon, Gorontalo, Tasikmalaya, Surabaya, Bontang, Bekasi, Medan, Sabang, Salatiga, Depok, Tidore, Parepare, Tarakan, Banda Aceh, Cimahi, Pasuruan.

The Chairman of KORMI, Hayono Isman appreciated Bima Arya Sugiarto as the Chairman of APEKSI who could invite cities in Indonesia to move together simultaneously to hold World Walking Day 2022 activities.

"Well, for the first time, Indonesia held a World Walking Day which was not only held in Bogor City, but thanks to Pak Bima Arya who is also the chairman of APEKSI, 24 cities participated," he said.

Hayono assessed that this activity that involved thousands of people was extraordinary, because according to him, the community was very enthusiastic to take part in healthy walking and exercise activities.

"The enthusiasm of the community is extraordinary, because the Mayor invites the people to be happy first, be happy first. Gather together, be happy and in that joy there are elements of sports, health and fitness. So that means, the world walking day movement released by APEKSI and KORMI Then a fit Indonesia in 2045 will be realized," he said.

According to him, this movement requires the support of cities around the world and has started from Bogor City and 23 other cities in Indonesia.

He also appreciated the community movement in Bogor City which was compact and united to move together to participate in World Walking Day activities.
