JAKARTA - Prilly Latuconsina was asked to become a guest lecturer to teach Gadjah Mada University (UGM) students about the importance of "personal branding" or strategies to build a positive personal image on social media.

"Remember, building an image is not the same as an image," said Prilly when giving lectures to celebrity study students at the Department of Communication Science, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UGM, Sleman, quoted from ANTARA, Friday, September 30.

According to this alumnus of the London School of Public Relations (LSPR), personal branding through content on social media can consistently become a commodity or a means to achieve economic benefits. On the other hand, good personal branding is also able to lead a person to become a public figure.

"So if you want to be a public figure, you don't have to play in films. Maybe you want to be an influencer, use your social media well, don't forget to build personal branding," said the young businessman.

According to Prilly, there is nothing wrong with building a good image on social media because everyone should show their positive image.

"It's not the same with imaging, if the image is, for example, you don't like blusukan but the content is all blusukan. But if you like (blusukan) it's true, you really are a 'humble' (simple) person, care about the environment and then you post it, that's not an image," he said.

Prilly emphasized that personal images that have been built on social media should continue to be supported by content according to consistent behavior.

"He (has a very simple image), cares about the environment, continues to be caught 'party', wastes money, then damages your image, your celebrity status has immediately disappeared," he said.

However, the actor who played the soap opera Ganteng Ganteng Serigala admitted that to treat personal branding with consistent content, he also needed capital.

Prilly took part in the Teaching Specialist program, one of the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) programs that opened up opportunities for reliable practitioners in various fields to teach classes and share real skills and experiences from the industrial world.

The Teaching and Teaching Specialist Program was launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology in 2022 to address the problem of the gap between graduates' expertise and the needs of the world of work.

"The MBKM program provides learning experience outside the classroom, as well as learning in class by bringing practitioners," explained the lecturer at the Department of Communication Sciences who classified the Selebritas Study course at Fisipol UGM Lidwina Mutia Sadasri.

In this class, Prilly provided material related to celebrities and celebrities, as well as discussions with students during a question and answer session.

After this first meeting, according to Lidwina, Prilly will return to UGM in October to teach in the same course.
