JAKARTA - Japanese actor and singer, Tomohisa Yamashita, left the agency that has supported him for years, Johnny's Entertainment (Johnny's & Associates).

Quoted by Antara from Johnny's official website on Wednesday, November 11, Yamashita no longer works at the company. He revealed that his last day as Johnny's talent was on October 31, 2020.

In the statement, they thank fans for their support over the years and deeply apologize for the sudden announcement.

They continued, Yamashita has the desire to continue to build his career in foreign markets, and currently plans to focus his attention on markets other than Japan.

After mutual agreement, Yamashita and Johnny's decided to separate. They concluded by saying that Yamashita will continue to pursue a more international career path, and they hope their fans will continue to support him.

The idol who is familiarly called Yamapi has kept a low profile lately after he was temporarily suspended due to rumors of drinking with underage children some time ago.

Yamashita joined Johnny's in 1996 when he was 11 years old. Appearing regularly on the TV show Shounen Club, he has quickly become one of Johnny's Jr.'s talents.

Yamashita made a major debut with the idol group NEWS, with his first major single "Kibou: Yell" being released in 2004.

Apart from his work in music, Yamashita has established himself as one of the top Japanese actors who have appeared in award-winning and highly successful films and drama series.
