JAKARTA - Author Paulo Coelho expressed his interest in South Korean entertainment such as Korean dramas and K-pop.

Through an interview session with Yonhap News on November 8, Coelho said he felt interested when watching Park Chan Wook's film, Old Boy.

The writer of The Alchemist said that he was increasingly curious and saw 100 Korean films. This continued when he found the K-pop group BTS.

In 2018, Suga, a BTS member recommended the novel The Alchemist to fans and it made the name Paulo Coelho discussed a lot.

“One day I was on a plane and saw The Alchemist in a Korean book order. I thought it was wrong it wasn't. At that time I didn't promote the book in Korea, which meant that the book was sold through word of mouth, ”he said as quoted by Soompi on November 9.
