JAKARTA - The latest film Minions: The Rise of Gru will be released today, Tuesday, June 28 in theaters. This film is part of the world of Minions which begins to highlight Gru's story.

Five years after the first film, Minions, Universal Pictures and Illumination began announcing work on a 2017 film. Steve Carell and Pierre Coffin are back to voice Gru and the Minions.

Here is the full synopsis of Minions: The Rise of Gru:

Set in the 1970s, Felonius Gru (Steve Carell) is a 12-year-old boy growing up in the suburbs. He is a fan of the super villain group Vicious 6.

Gru has a desire to join Vicious 6. He plans a plot so that he can follow in their footsteps.

The opportunity arose when Vicious 6 fired their leader, Wild Knuckles. Then Gru joined the interview session as their member but it didn't go well.

Gru steals a precious stone from them with the help of Kevin, Stuart, Bob, Otto and the other Minions. Gru realized he was being targeted.

Gru and the minions run away and meet Wild Knuckles and need help learning kung fu from an expert.

Minions: The Rise of Gru is directed by Kyle Balda and features a line of Hollywood stars, namely Taraji P. Henson, Michelle Yeoh, RZA, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Lucy Lawless, Dolph Lundgren, Danny Trejo, Russell Brand, Julie Andrews, and Alan Arkin .

In addition to the film, the soundtrack of this film also features various big names in the music industry. Some of them, Diana Ross, Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Brockhampton, Kali Uchis, Phoebe Bridgers, Bleachers, Jackson Wang and others.
