Reduce Costs, Netflix Cancels Production Of Meghan Markle's Animated Series

JAKARTA - The streaming service Netflix is reportedly making a number of adjustments after the number of their subscribers decreased. One of them by canceling the production of Meghan Markle's series titled Pearl.

Initially Pearl became Markle's first project with Prince Harry through their production house, Archewell Productions. The production house is projected to present a documentary series and programs for children.

Pearl was produced by Markle with David Furnish and was announced last year. The story focuses on a 12-year-old girl who is looking for inspiration in her life.

“Like women her age, our hero Pearl goes on a journey of identity as she faces life's challenges. I'm proud Archewell Productions partnered with Netflix," Meghan Markle said at the time.

However, they did not completely lose because Pearl production was still in its early stages but because of that, Archewell Productions canceled its first project.

Apart from Pearl, Netflix also canceled two animated productions last week - Dino Daycare and Boons and Curses.

On the other hand, Netflix is said to be continuing its collaboration with Meghan Markle and Harry for the documentary series Heart of Invictus.

The decline of 200 thousand subscribers in the first half of 2022 made Netflix carry out a number of evaluations. They reduced animation production to improve and change the concept of one film per week.
