JAKARTA - The latest Korean film, On the Line brings together two well-known South Korean actors: Byun Yo Han and Kim Moo Yeol. Through the direction of Kim Gok and Kim Sun, this film highlights the phenomenon of telephone fraud or voice phishing.

On the Line tells of Seo Joon (Byun Yo Han), a former detective who becomes a victim of voice phishing. Then, Seo Joon starts looking for a way to find the central organization located in China. Seo Joon is surprised by the neatness of the voice phishing system. He also meets Pro Kwak (Kim Moo Yeol), the head of voice phishing planning. Seo Joon has to face Pro Kwak in order to recover his lost money.

To VOI exclusively, Byun Yo Han and Kim Moo Yeol shared their characters in the movie On the Line.

Byun Yo Han plays Seo Joon, the main character who suffers an unfortunate fate. “I became Han Seo Joon, a former detective. After his wife became a victim, he started searching for a voice phishing center and the conflict started," Byun Yo Han told VOI.

Byun Yo Han said he wanted to accept this offer because he and his family had received similar calls. “I know what voice phishing is and the problems it causes. My family has had calls from such con artists," he said.

"So I want to raise public awareness regarding this criminal case that is close to our daily lives," said Byun Yo Han. Different from Byun Yo Han, Kim Moo Yeol admitted that he did not know what telephone fraud was.

“I don't know much about or have been a victim of voice phishing cases. Prior to filming this film, I had the opportunity to talk to a banker while starting my own bank business,” replied Kim Moo Yeol.

The deepening of the character made Kim Moo Yeol aware that this case was growing rapidly in South Korea. "Through that conversation, I realized how serious this criminal case is."

Both are known for their amazing acting and a series of action projects that amaze the public. Through the film On the Line, Byun Yo Han and Kim Moo Yeol also present a chase in the midst of conflict

“I didn't choose a specific genre or character. I just chose a project with relatable stories and characters. If a role has action scenes, I try to prepare well,” explained Kim Moo Yeol.

“I don't star in many action movies, only three,” Byun Yo Han replied with a laugh. However, he always shows something new in every action film he plays.

“(I did) sword action in Six Flying Dragons, barehanded action in On the Line, and big war scenes in my latest film, HANSAN,” explains Byun Yo Han.

Box Office in the Middle of a Pandemic

The film On the Line received a positive response from the people of South Korea. The film gained 1 million viewers in the midst of a pandemic. Byun Yo Han and Kim Moo Yeol thanked the public for watching their film.

“I was delighted to hear On the Line sitting at number one at the box office. And I was touched when I knew the audience went to the cinema to support the film industry," said Byun Yo Han.

"It's hard to be happy because this situation is difficult for a lot of people. I hope this film can be a short break for society in the midst of a pandemic situation," said Kim Moo Yeol.

Celebrating the box office title, On the Line players danced to the choreography Hey Mama from the Street Woman Fighter show. Apparently, Kim Moo Yeol also watched the dance competition program.

“I watched the show without missing an episode. I am very impressed with the dancers who are positive and have passion,” said Kim Moo Yeol.
