This Is The Reason Gong Yoo Joined The Netflix Series, The Silent Sea

JAKARTA - Actor Gong Yoo shared his reasons for joining the series The Silent Sea from Netflix. According to him, a project like this is something he has been waiting for for a long time.

When he first read the script for The Silent Sea, Gong Yoo didn't think much of it and immediately accepted the offer.

"This is the kind of (series) I've been waiting for a long time. I've always wanted to do science fiction thrillers and when I read the script, I wanted to be a part of it," Gong Yoo quoted the Korea Times as saying on Tuesday, December 7.

Through this series, Gong Yoo is met with actress Bae Doo Na, who is known as the Sense8 series.

The process of filming The Silent Sea is also full of challenges considering the background is outer space.

“Hard work was put into making this film and I think it is a story that has never been seen before in Korea,” said Gong Yoo.

The Silent Sea is set in an Earth whose resources have dwindled. Han Yoon Jae (Gong Yoo) leads the team on a secret mission near the moon that holds many mysteries.

Song Ji An (Bae Doo Na) is an astrologer who wants to find answers behind the accident that caused the space station on the moon to be abandoned. Directed by Choi Hang Yong, The Silent Sea will premiere on Netflix starting December 24.
