Tokyo 2020 Film Festival Still Held

JAKARTA - The 33rd Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF) will continue to be held this year from 31 October to 9 November.

TIFF not only plans to continue to screen live films in Tokyo theaters, but also holds online talk shows.

Reporting from Antara, Friday, August 7, this year, TIFF combines Competition, Asian Future and Japanese Cinema Splash into one under the name Tokyo Premiere 2020, presenting around 30 films from all over the world.

Meanwhile, TIFF also created a new selection committee from various professional backgrounds, namely Waseda University Emeritus Professor Kohei Ando, producer Shozo Ichiyama, TIFF senior programmers Kenji Ishizaka and Yoshi Yatabe as well as journalists Yuka Kimbara and Yuko Sekiguchi.

TIFF also collaborates with Tokyo FILMeX which usually takes place in late autumn. The synergy of the two festivals is expected to strengthen solidarity in the film industry.

TIFF added that the absolute requirement for holding this festival is the safety of spectators, filmmakers and staff.

If the situation is not conducive to organizing the event, it may be possible to postpone or cancel the event.
