JAKARTA - The case of dengue infection in Indonesia is still high. Data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia recorded that as of April 14, 2026, there were 30,465 cases of dengue infection in Indonesia, with a Rete Incidence (IR) of 10.6 per 100 thousand people.
In the same period, there were 79 deaths with a Case Fatality Rate (CFR) as low as 0.3 percent. Based on clinical classification, dengue cases consist of 10,138 cases of Dengue Fever (DD), 19,877 cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD), and 450 cases of Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS).
With the report of these data, it is increasingly proven that dengue is not only a public health issue, but also requires comprehensive prevention measures. Prevention steps such as vaccination to sanitation must be carried out at all levels of society, including in the workplace.
This must be done because dengue infection is also a real risk for productivity, operations, and company resilience. Especially in Indonesia, there are still high cases of dengue throughout the year and many attack productive age groups.
"Dengue is still a health challenge in the Indonesian community, especially in the productive age group," said Dr. Prima Yosephine, MKM, Director of Communicable Diseases, Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday, April 23, 2026.
"Prevention needs to be carried out in an integrated manner, ranging from education, vector control, to cross-sectoral collaboration," he added.
Director of K3 Testing at the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, M. Yusuf, said that dengue must be seen as part of occupational safety and health (K3).
"The workplace has the potential to become a location of transmission risk if it is not optimally managed, so systematic and integrated steps are needed from the company. This encouragement is realized through the implementation of hygiene and sanitation in the work environment," explained Yusuf.
However, there are real challenges in carrying out various dengue prevention measures in the workplace. A study of office workers in Indonesia shows that there is still doubt in the acceptance of protection efforts through dengue vaccination, with cost being one of the main considerations.
The findings emphasize the importance of a more targeted approach to improve understanding, trust, and access to various prevention efforts, to strengthen worker protection and national preparedness for dengue.
For this approach, KADIN, PT Takeda Innovative Medicines, and PT Bio Farma, supported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia, and PERDOKI, organized a collaborative movement, the Synergy Action of Companies (SIAP) against Dengue.
Through SIAP Lawan Dengue, companies are encouraged to take real and measurable steps. Starting from building internal awareness, strengthening efforts to control the work environment, to integrating employee health protection as part of company policy.
"Through SIAP Lawan Dengue, we see that the workplace has an important role as a starting point for protection, where companies can contribute to maintaining the health of their employees in a more structured way," said President Director of PT Takeda Innovative Medicines, Andreas Gutknecht.
In this year's implementation, SIAP Lawan Dengue presents a new strengthening in the collaboration ecosystem. Not only does it provide appreciation to companies, but also recognizes the role of health service facilities and supporting institutions.
Not only that, the SIAP Lawan Dengue integrated platform was also launched as a one-stop platform, which makes it easier for companies to connect with health service partners. This step is expected to make efforts to prevent dengue infection can be carried out more structured and sustainable.
