JAKARTA - Commemorating World Health Day which falls on April 7, a healthy line dance was held at Superhouse Surabaya on Saturday, April 11. This event aims to promote an active lifestyle through sports that are inclusive and fun for all levels of society.

The activities initiated by Holywings Peduli involved at least 150 participants, dominated by residents of Graha Famili and the Roca gymnastics group.

Since 08.00 WIB, the atmosphere at the location was lively with energetic music that accompanied every step of the participants. Under the direction of professional instructors, the participants performed repetitive movements that are characteristic of line dance to train body coordination and core muscle strength.

Holywings Group President Commissioner and Chairman of the Holywings Peduli CSR Program, Andrew Susanto, emphasized that the selection of line dance was not without reason. This sport is considered to have a low entry threshold so that it can be followed by cross generations, ranging from young people to the elderly.

"We chose line dance as an activity on World Health Day because this sport is easy to follow for all ages, from young people to the elderly. In addition to being healthy for the heart and improving body fitness, line dance also presents a pleasant atmosphere so that people are more motivated to exercise regularly and maintain health," said Andrew in his statement.

Medically, line dance is categorized as a moderate intensity cardio exercise. This activity is able to burn around 200 to 400 calories per hour, depending on the intensity of the movement. In addition to the physical aspect, this dance-based exercise is also effective in reducing stress and maintaining psychological health through intensive social interaction between participants.

Iyan, the instructor who led the gymnastics, explained that the effectiveness of line dance would be felt maximally if it was done consistently. According to him, the main focus of this movement is on the legs and hips which are crucial for long-term body balance.

"Line dance is a very good exercise for health because it helps improve heart fitness, train balance, and strengthen body muscles, especially in the legs and hips," said Iyan.

"In addition, this activity is also fun so it can help reduce stress. To get the optimal benefits, line dance should be done regularly about 2 to 3 times a week with a minimum duration of 30-45 minutes each session," he added.

To complement the sports agenda, the organizers also distributed health facilities assistance worth Rp30 million, in the form of blood sugar, cholesterol, gout, and blood pressure checking devices that were allocated to strengthen Posyandu and Posbindu services in the local area.

Through this activity, it is hoped that the monitoring of the health of the productive age group and the elderly independently at the neighborhood level will be further optimized, in order to foster better awareness for a healthy lifestyle.
