JAKARTA - Ahead of Eid al-Fitr, the desire to perform optimally with healthy skin and glowing usually increases. However, beware! In the midst of high demand for beauty products, the circulation of illegal cosmetics and skincare is actually more vulnerable.

In order to protect consumers, the Jambi Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has officially tightened supervision of beauty products during Ramadan 1447 Hijriah.

Target Offline Shops to Cyber Patrol

The Head of BPOM Jambi, Musthofa Anwari, explained that the supervision was carried out thoroughly through two main channels:

Physical Facility Inspection: The team went down to inspect the offline stores and distributors to ensure that each product on display has an official registration number.

Cyber Patrol & Intelligence: Given the massive trend of online shopping, the cyber patrol team actively tracks the sale of cosmetics on social media and marketplaces to comb through products that do not meet the requirements.

Why can a product be withdrawn from the market?

BPOM is not hesitant to revoke the marketing permit or impose sanctions if it finds serious violations, including:

Harmful Content: The discovery of prohibited substances such as mercury which risk damaging the skin and long-term health.

Mismatch of Notification: The composition of the original ingredients is different from the claim on the packaging.

Excessive Ads: Claims of unreasonable instant results or inappropriate ads.

So that your skincare ritual during Ramadan remains safe, Musthofa reminds the public not to be easily tempted by promises of instant results. Here are practical steps to ensure product authenticity:

Apply Check CLICK: Always check the Packaging (not damaged), Label (clear information), Distribution Permit (BPOM number), and Expiration Date.

Use the Barcode: The easiest way is to scan the barcode on the packaging label. The original product will display the brand information registered in the BPOM system, while the counterfeit product will not be readable.
