JAKARTA - The condition of health services at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) of West Sulawesi Province is currently in the spotlight. Responding to various complaints and operational constraints, the Governor of West Sulawesi, Suhardi Duka, took drastic steps by carrying out a total restructuring of the red plate hospital management.

During the inauguration of 13 administrator and supervisor officials in Mamuju, Tuesday, Suhardi openly admitted that the health institution was in a worrying condition.

"This hospital is not good again. Therefore, I together with the Deputy Governor replaced the director, then restructured and completely renovated," said Suhardi Duka, quoted from ANTARA.

Cultural Revolution: Throw Away Old Habits The main message of this overhaul is a change in the work mentality. The governor emphasized that the new management must dare to abandon the "old culture" that hinders progress. He demanded the creation of a working atmosphere that is honest, efficient, and fully oriented towards patient satisfaction.

Interestingly, Suhardi ensured that the selection process for this time's officials was carried out professionally without political interference. All the names who were inaugurated were purely proposed by the Director of the RSUD so that a solid team could be created.

"I and maybe the Deputy Governor also don't know you. This is done so that there is no intervention and so that one team can work well to make changes," he added.

1-Year Performance Contract: Changed or Replaced The Governor did not give a blank check to the new management. A "dead contract" for one year has been set. If within this period the Sulbar Regional Hospital does not show significant quality changes, he does not hesitate to conduct a total re-evaluation.

The target is not trivial. Suhardi has ambitions to bring Sulbar Hospital up in class, from the current standard to class B, and even projected to reach class A in the future.

Not Just Pursuing Profit (PAD) As a regional health facility, Sulbar Hospital is considered to have great potential to develop financially. However, Suhardi emphasized that the government's main focus is not on Local Revenue (PAD).

According to him, a well-managed hospital will definitely generate profit. However, these profits must be returned in full to:

Improved service quality.

Medical device updates.

Medical staff welfare and patient comfort.

"The regional hospital must be profitable. There are many patients, but we do not make the hospital a source of PAD. The profit must be returned for the improvement of services," he explained.

Harapan Baru Masyarakat Sulbar This bold step is expected to be a turning point for the quality of health services in West Sulawesi. With clean management from interventions and a focus on innovation, Sulbar RSUD is targeted to be able to restore public confidence that had been lost.

The governor closed with a reflective statement, that he only wanted to visit the hospital for the sake of achievement and innovation, not because of a sudden inspection due to a problem.
