JAKARTA - The appearance of a reddish rash on the right side of US President Donald Trump's neck has sparked public attention and has again raised speculation about his health.

The sign of redness was seen when Trump attended the Medal of Honor ceremony last Monday. Photos from the event quickly circulated widely on social media and provoked various comments.

Responding to the developing news, Trump's personal doctor provided clarification. In his statement quoted by The Guardian, Dr. Sean Barbabella said the rash was not a serious problem, but rather an effect of skin care.

"President Trump uses a very common cream on the right side of his neck which is a preventive skin care," said Dr. Barbabella, quoted from the US News website.

"The president has been using this treatment for a week, and the redness is expected to last for several weeks," he continued.

However, the doctor did not explain in detail the type of cream used or the specific reason why Trump needed the treatment.

A number of social media users also uploaded photos of Trump attending the Board of Peace meeting on February 19. They claimed that the redness in the neck had been visible since then, raising the question of whether the condition had just occurred or had been going on for a longer time.

Until now, the White House has not provided additional explanations regarding the exact cause of the redness.

Medically, redness on the skin due to the use of creams is indeed common. Several health sites say that the reaction can be triggered by allergies, skin irritation, or the content of active ingredients such as retinol and certain acids.

Mild and temporary redness usually appears at the beginning of use and will subside over time. However, if accompanied by itching or pain, it could indicate a more serious reaction.

The man who is now 79 years old is recorded as the oldest president in US history when he was inaugurated in January. It is this age factor that makes his health condition often become the focus of public and media attention.

Although doctors have confirmed that the rash is just a side effect of normal skin care, public attention to the health of the number one person in the United States does not seem to be easing anytime soon.
