Commemorating World Cancer Day, Cancer Warriors Join Thousands Of Runs In Run For Hope

JAKARTA - World Cancer Day, which falls on February 4, is commemorated by the cancer and survivors fighters community. They all joined runners and communities in the MRCC RUN FOR HOPE (MRCCC RFH) 2025. The Fun Run 1K and 5K events.

Carrying Cancer Warriors' friends, this activity was attended by a total of 3,165 participants. The participants consisted of 3,000 5K category participants, namely from various running sports communities, and the general public, as well as 165 1K category participants from the cancer and survivors community.

The event held by MRCC Siloam Hospitals Semanggi, on Sunday, February 9, 2025 aims to raise awareness of the importance of early detection of cancer, support cancer fighters to stay healthy and productive, as well as promote solidarity and a healthy lifestyle to the wider community.

As stated by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Gunadi Sadikin in commemoration of the previous World Cancer Day, early detection plays an important role in increasing the chances of recovering cancer patients.

"We invite the whole community to run and encourage our brothers and sisters who are still undergoing cancer treatment. We are also celebrating the victory of our brothers and sisters who have beaten cancer, giving appreciation to medical personnel who continue to care for and provide treatment to each survivor. Finally, to remind us all that there is always hope," said CEO & Deputy President Director of PT Siloam International Hospitals Tbk, Caroline Riady in the Senayan area, South Jakarta.

On the same occasion, MRCC Chief Executive Officer Siloam Hospitals Semanggi dr. Edy Gunawan, MARS., said that through the hashtag #EarlyDetectionSavesLives, his party invites everyone to check their health regularly to protect their future.

On World Cancer Day 2025, The Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) has set the theme "United by Unique" to emphasize that every individual cancer fighter has a unique experience in the fight against cancer. But through togetherness, the fight against cancer becomes stronger.

'Kanker can be controlled, with a high survival rate if found early. However, if found in advanced stages, cancer is increasingly difficult to handle. However, data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health shows that the majority of cancer patients in Indonesia have just checked themselves while in advanced stages. MRCC RFH 2025 is also a place to show solidarity to cancer fighters. For the participants, this event presents a number of meaningful experiences, such as the 1K Run carried out by cancer fighters. Each participant also wore Race BIB which only did not have runner information, but also reads "Im Running for [Name] as a form of dedication and support to cancer fighters or loved ones. In addition, there is a wall of journalists to paste photos and a message of support to cancer fighters.
