JAKARTA - PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) recorded Indonesia's capital market capitalization reaching IDR 11,200 trillion throughout 2026. This value places Indonesia's capital market in the 20th position globally.

President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange Jeffrey Hendrik said the achievement showed that the domestic capital market still had resilience amid various pressures and challenges throughout the year.

"Despite all the pressures and challenges we face throughout 2026, our market at this time still records a market capitalization value of IDR 11,200 trillion, and this still places Indonesia in the 20th position globally," he said in a Capital Market Anniversary Press Conference quoted, 11 August 2026.

In addition to market capitalization, daily transaction activity in the Indonesian capital market is also recorded as quite large, namely, to date, the average daily transaction value reaches IDR 22.3 trillion or equivalent to around 1.2 billion US dollars to 1.3 billion US dollars. With this achievement, Indonesia ranks 18th globally based on daily transaction value.

Jeffrey added that the IDX also continues to expand the types of instruments traded, namely with the launch of the Gold Exchange-Traded Fund (ETF) on Monday, August 10, further strengthening the position of the IDX as a multi-asset or multi-asset class exchange, which not only trades shares, but also securities and sukuk.

In terms of fund-raising, new stock listing activities are still ongoing, namely until now, the IDX has listed seven companies that have carried out initial public offerings or initial public offerings (IPO), with one of them being in the lighthouse IPO category, so that the number of companies listed on the IDX has reached 962 issuers.

"Seven new stock listings may be relatively low compared to the average of the previous year, but if we look at the global market conditions, other stock exchanges also experience the same conditions, so if we look at the seven new issuers, they still place the IDX in second place in the ASEAN region," he said.

In the midst of market conditions that are still under pressure, the number of investors has actually continued to increase, namely the IDX has recorded the number of capital market investors has reached 30.2 million or increased by around 9.9 million investors in just 7.5 months.

"The addition of 9.9 million investors is the highest growth in the history of the Indonesian capital market," he added.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Capital Market, Derivatives Finance, and Carbon Exchange Supervisory Authority of OJK, Hasan Fawzi, said that the Indonesian capital market is still facing a number of pressures, namely the market capitalization has decreased by 29.26 percent year to date (ytd).

According to Hasan, the movement of the Composite Stock Price Index (JCI) which is fluctuating is influenced by various external and domestic sentiments that occur in a row.

"Starting from the uncertainty of the imposition of tariff policies and there is also trade tension between countries, then there is an escalation of geopolitical risks in various regions, especially in the Middle East region which has a direct impact on the distribution pattern, main commodities, and there is also an increase in the world oil price which poses a further threat to global inflation and in the country is also reflected in the form of pressure on the rupiah exchange rate," he said.

In addition, he added that the trend of rising interest rates and market transparency issues also influenced investor behavior, including through portfolio rebalancing actions so that various factors made the Indonesian capital market enter a consolidation phase after having recorded a record high at the beginning of the year.

However, Hasan said the growth in the number of capital market investors still showed positive development, namely, to date, the number of Single Investor Identification (SID) has reached 30.27 million or increased by around 48.67 percent annually.

"The number of issuers is still growing well, with 962 companies listed and there are still active fund-raising activities by listed corporations with no less than 135 (companies) public offerings with a total value of Rp. 123.21 trillion," he explained.

Meanwhile, the average daily transaction value of the capital market increased by more than 23 percent to Rp22.26 trillion and in the investment management industry, the value of managed assets or asset under management (AUM) was recorded at Rp1,026 trillion.

Meanwhile, the net asset value (NAB) of mutual funds is in the range of IDR 674 trillion with subscription activity still recording a positive position.

Hasan added that the collection of funds for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through securities crowdfunding also continues to show progress, namely that to date, the total funds that have been collected have exceeded Rp. 2 trillion.

"For the activity of the derivative financial market and also the carbon exchange, this also continues to show a positive trend, and we hope that it will play an increasingly important role in supporting the deepening of the financial market in Indonesia through activities in the capital market," he said.
