Prabowo Has Not Decided on the Governor of BI, Destry Including Those Considered

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto has not sent a Presidential Letter regarding the definitive candidate for Governor of the Bank of Indonesia to the DPR. Destry Damayanti's name is included in the discussion, but there has been no official submission.

Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the process of determining the BI Governor candidate is still ongoing.

"Until today, there has also been no surprise from the President sent to the DPR regarding this matter. Because it is still in the process," said Prasetyo at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Friday, August 7.

According to Prasetyo, Prabowo has been discussing, receiving opinions, and asking for input for some time before deciding on the name to be submitted to the DPR.

"But until today there has been no decision or no Surpres-nya," he said.

When asked if Destry Damayanti was one of the candidates, Prasetyo confirmed that no name had been proposed. However, he confirmed that Destry's name was among those being considered.

"Whether Mrs. Destry is one of those considered or a name that is included in the discussion, yes we can say that it is definitely as the interim Governor," said Prasetyo.

He said Destry's position as an interim official of the BI Governor followed the mechanism stipulated in the Bank Indonesia Law.
