JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK has started to implement a contraflow trial or traffic diversion at KM 55 of the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road, North Sumatra, starting today, Thursday, August 6 to Wednesday, August 12.

Traffic engineering is carried out as preparation for maintenance work on the Batang Serangan Bridge Oprit so that the implementation of the work will continue to be safe without disrupting the smooth flow of vehicles.

During the trial period, vehicles will be directed to pass through lanes from the opposite direction according to the contraflow scheme that has been prepared.

Road users are asked to pay attention to traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field to avoid obstacles while crossing the work site.

The Regional Head of North Sumatra, Hutama Karya Taufiq Hidayat, said the trial was carried out to ensure that traffic arrangements could run optimally before being implemented during the maintenance period.

"We are conducting this contraflow trial to ensure that traffic arrangements during maintenance work can run safely and smoothly. Through this trial, we can see the conditions on the ground directly and make adjustments if necessary, so that when implemented during the work period, road users can still pass safely, comfortably and with minimal obstacles," said Taufiq in a written statement, Thursday, August 6.

Taufiq said that despite the traffic engineering, the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road operation was still running normally and safely for all vehicles.

To support the smooth trial, the company partnered with the police, transportation services and related stakeholders to conduct periodic monitoring.

In the work area, various safety equipment has also been installed, ranging from traffic signs, traffic cones, water barriers, strobe lights to officers who are on duty 24 hours a day.

The Company apologizes for any inconvenience that may arise during the trial.

Taufiq appealed to road users to plan their trips well, reduce speed when crossing the work area and comply with all applicable traffic regulations.

"We hope that road users can support the implementation of this trial by remaining cautious and complying with all traffic regulations that have been implemented. With the cooperation of all road users, the implementation of maintenance work can run smoothly, so that the quality of toll road services is maintained," he said.

To obtain the latest information on traffic conditions, road users can monitor the official Jalan Tol Hutama Karya social media, contact the Call Center 1500-700 or WhatsApp 0811-2770-000 and use the CCTV feature on the Mozy application to monitor traffic conditions in real time before starting a journey.
